Energy Management in Cultural Heritage

The Conference Energy Management in Cultural Heritage will take place in the hotel Excelsior, Dubrovnik, Croatia, from the 6th to the 8th of April, 2011.

Some 250 participants, including cultural heritage protection experts, representatives of national and local authorities, architects, engineers, urban planners and decision makers in the field of building construction and environmental protection, as well as consultants and other experts from the field of cultural heritage protection are expected to attend this high level event.

UNDP Croatia is the main organizer of the conference, while UNESCO, UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina, GIZ Open Regional Fund (ORF-E) with German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, ICE-Italian Trade Commission, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Italy, OICE, the City of Dubrovnik, the City of Venice, the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship, the Environmental Protection, Ministry of Culture and Energy Efficiency Fund, the Croatian Architects’ Association, the Croatian Chamber of Architects and the Zagreb Architects’ Society are the official co-organizers of the conference. The main goal of the conference is to promote energy efficiency in cultural heritage buildings in the region, through exchanging knowledge and experience applied in pilot projects and case studies in Croatia and worldwide.

Energy efficiency in public buildings is a fully adopted practice, but the need also exists for maintaining buildings categorised as cultural heritage. Join us at the unique Conference in Dubrovnik in 2011. Our goal is to create synergy between cultural heritage protection and the need to increase energy efficiency in an open and interactive manner, based on gathered experiences.

The Conference is intended for all decision makers and experts, who will stimulate further development in this area based on completed energy efficiency projects in cultural heritage buildings in Croatia and abroad, as follows:

representatives of cultural heritage protection departments and related institutions;
representatives of local and regional selfgovernment units;
representatives of energy offices within the state administration and the local and regional selfgovernments;
architects and other engineers in the construction industry;
owners and managers of buildings and sites classified as cultural heritage;

urban planners and decision makers in the field of
building construction and environmental protection;
consultants and other experts from the field of cultural heritage protection.
